Shirin Bemelmans-Lalezari | MD PhD, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, University Medica Center Utrecht
Dr. Bemelmans-Lalezari finished her residency under professor Dion and dr. Versteegh in Leiden (Leiden University Medical Center) in 2009, after which she moved to the OLVG hospital in Amsterdam. There, she worked for almost 10 years and held the position of Head of the department for 4 years, as well as co-Chief of residency. In 2018, she moved to her current hospital with a special interest in mitral valve repair. She also works as a board-certified coach for medical professionals in Amsterdam one day a week, teaches in a training program on Compassionate Medical Leadership and provides several training programs with a focus on Compassionate Leadership in the Medical Field.
Volkmar Falk | Chief Medical Director Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at the DHZC
Volkmar Falk obtained his doctorate in heart surgery at the University of Bonn in 1993. He habilitated at the University of Leipzig in 2001. In 2009, Falk became Director of the Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital Zurich. Since 2014, he is Medical Director of the Deutsches Herzzentrum der Charité DHZC (formerly DHZB) and Director of the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at DHZC.
