Behind the Scenes: An Editor’s Life on EJCTS
In this episode, our hosts Can Gollmann-Tepeköylü and Miia L Lehtinen, chat to Prof. Dr. Matthias Siepe, leading cardiothoracic surgeon and EACTS Editor-in-Chief (2021 – Present). Prof. Siepe talks about his journey to becoming the Editor-in-Chief for the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery and his experiences within the role. He provides an overview of the journal team structure and processes and shares tips for submitting to EJCTS.

Matthias Siepe (born 1974) studied medicine in Freiburg, Germany. His cardiovascular surgical training and work as a consultant was supervised by his mentor, Friedhelm Beyersdorf, in Freiburg. Since February 2022, he has been Chairman of the Cardiac Surgery Department in Bern, Switzerland. Before serving as Editor-in-Chief of EJCTS (since 2020), he was actively involved in various academic and publishing initiatives of EACTS.
