Dr. Sara Ricciardi is a consultant thoracic surgeon at San Camillo Forlanini Hospital in Rome and PhD student at Alma Mater Studiorum, University of Bologna, Italy. She finished her residency program at University of Pisa in December 2019, then she worked as fellow in Robotic Multidisciplinary Centre at University Hospital of Pisa, one of the most important centres in Europe, and spent three months at Toronto General Hospital to improve her skills on lung transplant and general thoracic surgery. She worked also at University Hospital of Bologna (May 2020-November 2021), one of the most important national centres for advanced thoracic oncologic surgery and lung transplant. She is an active researcher in Thoracic Surgery with particular interest in NSCLC, minimally invasive surgery, therapy of malignant pleural mesothelioma, thymic malignancies, pneumothorax, lymph nodal upstaging and lung transplant. She has attended at many conferences both as speaker and as moderator/panelist. Thanks to her study on prognostic impact of N2 involvement in lung cancer she was a Young investigator award recipient at World conferences of Lung Cancer in 2016 and 2017 (IASLC-WCLC2016, 2017). Furthermore, her study on the prognostic role of the resection margin on long-term outcomes after lung metastasectomy, was awarded, in October 2020, with the Young Investigator award during the annual meeting of the European Society of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS). Dr Ricciardi has been selected as the 2023 Francis Fontan Fund VATS in General Thoracic Surgery Fellow and she is going to spend three months in Odense University Hospital, Denmark. She is an active member of international society as International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), European Association for Cardio Thoracic Surgery (EACTS), European Respiratory Society (ERS), European Society of Thoracic Surgeon (ESTS) and of Italian society of thoracic surgery and endoscopy. She is a Junior Editorial board member of AMJ (AME Medical Journal) and Minimally invasive Surgery (MIS), she is also a reviser of several journals.
