Gonçalo F. Coutinho, MD, PhD, is a Professor and Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra and a Consultant of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University Center and Hospital of Coimbra. Presently, is a member of the board of the Portuguese Society of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery and of the Cardiothoracic Surgery College of the Portuguese Medical Association, and has been a past member of the board of the Portuguese Society of Cardiology and of CNCDC (National Center of Data Collection of Cardiology). He has completed the Surgical Leadership Program from Harvard University, and also the two-year program of Clinical Scholars Research Training from Harvard University. Has authored and co-authored numerous peer-review publications and is an active reviewer of several cardiovascular journals. His areas of expertise are adult cardiac surgery, with particular interest in valve repair and minimally invasive procedures.
