Andreas Martens
Professor Andreas Martens, born 1975, studied medicine at Hannover Medical School and graduated in 2002. He finished his cardiac surgery and vascular surgery residencies at the Department of Cardiac, Thoracic, Transplantation and Vascular Surgery at Hannover Medical School. He undertook a research fellowship at the Leibniz Research Laboratories for Biotechnology and Artificial Organs (LEBAO) between 2008 and 2010 with a focus on cardiac stem cell therapy. Since 2012 he specialized in aortic surgery. In 2023 he was appointed Professor of Cardiac Surgery at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg and Director of the University Clinic of Cardiac Surgery at Klinikum Oldenburg, Germany. His main scientific interests are thoracic aortic surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, cardiovascular stem cell research and surgical training.
