Akshay is a specialist registrar in thoracic surgery and clinical lecturer at the University of Birmingham. He is one of the Royal College of Surgeons Associate Surgical Specialty Leads (aSSL) in thoracic surgical research. Most recently he has completed his CRUK clinical training research fellowship in lab-based research exploring the immunobiology of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. He is an active researcher in Thoracic Surgery with particular interest in the translational aspect of lung cancer immunobiology and the impact of checkpoint blockade, minimally invasive surgery, thymic malignancy as well as disorders of the chest wall and airway.
