Prof Yves d’Udekem graduated as a surgeon in Belgium with overseas training in South Africa, Canada and the UK. In 2003 he completed his PhD and moved to Australia to work as consultant in the Royal Children’s Hospital and acquired Professorship of the University of Melbourne in 2016. His main research focuses are on the outcomes late after Fontan surgery and after aortic arch repair. Yves has founded the Australian and New Zealand Fontan Registry, the largest of its kind in the world. He has published 289 articles in international peer-reviewed journals. In the last five years he published 145 articles and obtained 7 NHMRC grants (3 as CIA, 3 as CI and 1 as AI) and five grants from other sources.
