Thomas Bracco Gartner

Dr Bracco Gartner is a cardiothoracic surgery resident from the Netherlands with a strong interest in mechanical circulatory support, heart failure and mitral valve surgery. His PhD thesis is on the mechanobiological influences on cardiac fibrosis, utilizing tissue engineered in vitro models and organ-on-chip technology. He joined the EACTS Residents Committee to enhance standardisation of cardiothoracic surgery training across Europe, to promote international surgical careers and to make residency programmes futureproof in the continuously evolving cardiothoracic surgery landscape.
