Pier Lorenzo Puri, M.D, began his medical training at University of Rome La Sapienza in 1986 and for the last 15 years has focused on investigating the biological, molecular and epigenetic underpinnings of muscle repair in normal conditions or disease, with a special emphasis on muscular dystrophies and age-associated muscular disorders. He has worked in several laboratories and medical institutes in Rome and California and since 2012 has been Lab Director at Fondazione Santa Lucia, Rome, Italy. He has been included in 84 peer-reviewed articles and written 8 book chapters, as well receiving several grants and fellowships including the American Heart Association Beginning Grant-in-Aid in 2002. His main research interest is in understanding the molecular pathogenesis of untreatable diseases.
