Paul Schulze is Professor of Medicine and Chair of the Department of Medicine and Division of Cardiology at the University Hospital Jena, Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, Germany. He received his MD and PhD from the University of Leipzig, Germany. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine, Boston University and a Clinical Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center. Paul trained as a postdoctoral fellow in Cardiovascular Research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and served as an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. His research interest focuses on cardiac and systemic metabolism in advanced heart failure, the role of ventricular assist devices for bridging patients to cardiac transplantation and outcome parameters of patients undergoing cardiac transplantation.
