Patrique Segers trained as a cardio-thoracic surgeon at the Academic Medical Center Amsterdam, the Netherlands. During his training he successfully defended his PhD thesis “New preventive and therapeutic strategies in surgical site infections after cardio-thoracic surgery” in 2007. After finishing his training in 2011, he obtained further subspecialty training in Catharina Hospital Eindhoven, University Medical Center Utrecht and Haga Hospital the Hague. In 2015, he was appointed to his current position in Maastricht University Medical Center, the Netherlands. His clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery including MIDCAB and valve surgery, atrial fibrillation and chest wall surgery.
