Pankaj Kumar is consultant cardio-thoracic surgeon at the Morriston Hospital, Swansea, UK. His special interests are in structural heart disease. His interests include aortic surgery and reconstructive mitral valve surgery. He is a strong advocate of minimal access surgery for valvular heart disease and has developed vascular and venous access techniques to facilitate minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Pankaj completed his pre-clinical medicine at University of Cambridge in 1990, with a First Class Honours and subsequently obtained his medical degree from the University of Oxford, UK in 1993. His surgical training was undertaken in the London Hospitals. His cardio-thoracic surgical training was undertaken at the Royal Brompton Hospital, St Bartholomew’s, St Mary’s and the London Chest Hospital. Pankaj has a keen interest in surgical training and education. He is member of numerous surgical and professional bodies.
