Olivier Ghez is the lead consultant paediatric surgeon at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London. He specialises in complex neonatal and congenital heart defects. Olivier has trained in France (Hopital d’enfants de la Timone in Marseille and Marie Lannelongue in Paris) and the United Kingdom (Great Ormond Street Hospital in London). He trained for research at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. Olivier has participated in several studies for congenital heart disease operations and also for circulatory support in children. He is a regular reviewer for the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery and other publications. He developed a keen interest in designing a simulation model for surgical scenarios. He participated in the design of a model who has won a surgical innovation price. His research also includes robotics and extracorporeal circulation improvement in infants.
