Nico Blom finished his training in pediatric cardiology in 1997 at the Leiden University Medical Centre. In 2003 he finished his PhD thesis entitled “The sinus venosus in heart development, contribution to the cardiac conduction system and atrial septum”. In 2008 he was appointed as Professor of pediatric cardiology, at Leiden University Medical Centre and Amsterdam University Medical Centre. Currently he is head of the departments of pediatric cardiology of the Center for Congenital Heart Disease Amsterdam-Leiden. His areas of interest are catheter interventions and pediatric electrophysiology.
