Matthias Steinert is currently a consultant general and thoracic surgeon at the University Medical Centre Jena, Schiller University in Jena. He is also an assistant lecturer for surgery and Head of the Division of Surgical Oncology and Thoracic Surgery in the Departement of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. Dr Steinert also trained in surgery at the Baku State University/ Azerbycan. His clinical interests are bronchial and mediastinal malignancies (also both in robotic) and his scientific interest is molecular mapping in combination with tumorcell- spreading.
