Marcelo Jimenez graduated in 1985 as a medical doctor at the Granada University. He completed his residency in general thoracic surgery at the University Hospital “12 de Octubre” Madrid in 1991, he then went to Toronto General Hospital to study as a visiting scholar. Currently, Marcelo is the Head of Thoracic Surgery Department at Salamanca University Hospital and Professor of Surgery and Director of Simulation and Experimental Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of Salamanca. He is also the Director of the Multidisciplinary Robotic Surgery Programme at Salamanca University Hospital. His areas of interest are minimally invasive surgery (VATS and Robotics) and heart valve surgery, preoperative planification and intraoperative localisation of lung tumours with innovative tools like 3D image and electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy.
