Justus Gross graduated at the University of Mainz in 1990. In 2005 he was qualified as a specialist in general surgery and 2007 in vascular surgery. In addition to stays abroad in Johannesburg and Switzerland, he worked for almost 14 years at the University Hospital in Kiel, Centre for Cardiovascular Surgery; from 2015 as Head of Department of Vascular Surgery. From 2018-2020, Gross was chief physician at the Department of vascular surgery at the private Seegeberger Medical Center. From 2020 he is Head of vascular surgery at the Rostock University Medical Center. His clinical areas of interest are thoraco-abdominal aortic surgery and the establishment of an aortic center. The use of bacteriophages for the treatment of cardiovascular prosthesis infections is his scientific focus.
