Jose L Pomar
José Luis Pomar, born in Palma de Mallorca, graduated in 1971 at the University of Navarra. Did his housemanship at the Radcliffe Infirmary of Oxford University and the training at the University Clinic of Pamplona with Carlos M.G. Duran. After some time in the University of Cantabria, spent three years as Chief Resident and Fellow at the Montreal Heart Institute. In 1983 after short additional stays in USA and Canada, went to Barcelona where with time he became Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery of the Barcelona University Medical School and Deputy Director of his Institute at the Hospital Clinic. He is Past President of the Catalan Society for Cardiac Surgery, The Spanish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery, the Society of Cardiac Surgeons and the Society of Heart Valve Diseases. After serving as Treasurer and Chairman of the Adult Cardiac Surgery Committee became vice-president and President of EACTS. Has organized more than 20 masters on valve repair and currently, he is President of the Board of the Consortium of Management Hospital Clinic, Senior Consultant Barnaclinic (Hospital Clinic), Cardiovascular Coordinator of the Guangzhou-Barcelona Programme, Chairman of the International Cooperation Committee at EACTS and Senior Advisor of The Heart Valve Society.
