Jarle Vaage

Jarle Vaage did his MD and PhD at the University of Oslo, oslo, Norway. Training in general surgery and thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at Oslo University Hospital and University Hospital of Northern Norway. Professor Norwegian Arctic University 1988-1992; professor Karolinska Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden 1992-2003; professor University of Oslo from 2003; now retired, but working full time with experimental surgery. Clinical interest: all aspect of adult cardiac surgery, in particular off-pump surgery, minimally invasive surgery, aortic surgery, and cardiothoracic trauma. Research: Experimental surgery, ARDS, ischemia-reperfusion injury of the heart, cardioprotection and cardioplegia, brain protection, off pump surgery, pathophysiology of CPB.
