Prof. Isidre Vilacosta graduated in 1982 as a medical doctor at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. He finished his residency in Cardiology at the Hospital Clínico San Carlos, Madrid in 1988. Isidre completed his Cardiology training with a 2 year stay at the University of Alabama (USA). Currently, he is the Head of the Clinical Cardiology Unit at the Hospital Clínico San Carlos in Madrid and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM). Additionally, he is the President of the Section of Valvular Heart Diseases and Aortic Pathology of the Spanish Society of Cardiology. His areas of interest are valvular heart disease, endocarditis, and acute aortic pathology.
