Irene Lie

Irene Lie has been working as a critical care nurse with cardiothoracic intensive care unit patients for over 30 years in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Oslo University hospital, Norway. During this time, she completed a PhD, conducting a randomized controlled trial on a psychoeducational intervention for cardiac surgery patients following their hospital discharge. Further, since 2015 she has been the Head of the Centre for Patient Centered Heart- and Lung research, where she supervises master´s and PhD students. She also served as a professor at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) since 2022. Her professional affiliations include being a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) since 2018, a member of the scientific committee of the Association of Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions (ACNAP, ESC) since 2022, and a member of the Cardiac Surgery International Nursing and Allied Professional Research Network (CONNECT) since 2022. Her goal as a member of the Allied Health Professionals (AHP) committee is to contribute to bridge knowledge between the EACTS and ESC, enhancing the role of nurses and allied professions as integral members of the multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.
