Ina Michel-Behnke graduated in 1985 as a medical doctor at the Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms- University Bonn. She became first paediatrician and in 1996 she graduated as a paediatric cardiologist. Henceforward she focused on catheter interventions, especially on stenting the arterial duct and hybrid procedures in Hypoplastic left Heart Syndrome at the Paediatric Heart Centre, Justus-Liebig University Giessen, Germany. Currently, she is the Head of the Department of Paediatric Cardiology, Paediatric Heart Center, Vienna, Austria and Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University Vienna. Her areas of interest beyond transcatheter treatment are regenerative medicine in paediatric heart failure, pulmonary banding in treatment of cardiomyophathies and pharmacological therapies in univentricular circulations.
