Edward P. Chen is Professor of Surgery and Director of Thoracic Aortic Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree at Stanford University in 1988 and his medical degree at Duke University in 1992. He trained in General Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco from 1992-2000, during which time he spent 3 years as a Research Fellow at Duke University from 1994-1997. He completed his training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Emory in 2003 and did a Fellowship in Aortic Surgery at UT, Houston in 2003. His primary clinical focus encompasses both thoracic aortic surgery and high-risk cardiac surgery. He has expertise in complex reoperative aortic surgery, aortic root surgery, valve-sparing aortic root replacement, and aortic valve repair.
