Claudia Goettsch
Dr. Claudia Goettsch is a research group leader at the Department of Cardiology at RWTH Aachen, Germany. Her group works on a combination of molecular and cell biology, with translational/clinical aspects, to study the mechanism of cardiovascular calcification.
After completing her diploma degree in nutritional science, she specialised and trained as a vascular biologist. Thereafter, she developed an interest in the bone-vascular axis and spent five years conducting research at Harvard Medical School.
Several publications, awards and a patent ensued; patent evidence of her productivity and high-quality research profile.
Her research is supported by DFG-funding, funding of the German Heart Foundation and EU-funding. Dr. Goettsch is dedicated to supporting and mentoring early-career basic and clinical scientists. As the chair of the cardiorenal graduate school at RWTH Aachen, she is constantly refining and improving training programmes. Furthermore, Dr. Goettsch is a nucleus member of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) working group ‘Atherosclerosis and vascular biology’ and the German Cardiac Society (DGK) working group ‘Vascular biology).
