Dr. Stoppe, Professor at Würzburg University (Germany) and the Charité in Berlin, is developing and leading several international clinical trials in the field of Critical Care. Together with his international collaborators, he has built an international clinical research trial group for several interventional nutrition studies and received several grants for his research from the DFG (German Research Foundation) and other third party funding agencies. His research focuses on perioperative optimization strategies in cardiac surgery patients, nutrition studies (micro- & macronutrients), enteral and parenteral nutrition, functional outcomes & risk assessment, guidelines, translational studies and organ protective strategies with special focus on cardiac surgery, severely burn and critically ill patients. Dr. Stoppe has successfully published >190 publications, some of them in high ranking Journals like the New England Journal of Medicine and has given many talks at international congresses. Furthermore, he functions a member of the German Nutrition Guidelines Committee and for the Canadian Critical Care Nutrition Guidelines group.
