Carlo Antona is an associate Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Milan. He obtained a speciality in General Surgery and in Cardiac Surgery. From 1988 to 2005 he was Lecturer for the School of Cardiac Surgery and for the MD degree in Cardiac Surgery at the Università degli Studi di Milano (Centro Cardiologico – Fondazione Monzino). Since 1999 he is Chief of the Cardiac Surgery Unit and Director of the Cardio-Nefro-Vascular Department at the Luigi Sacco Hospital – Università degli Studi di Milano. He is author of more than 350 publications on national and international journals. The main areas of surgical interests are: Aortic Valve and Root repair, Mitral repair, Aortic Aneurism, Arterial Grafts in Myocardial Revascularization, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Beating heart surgery. From 2007 he is head of the Fondazione per la Ricerca in Cardiochirurgia O.N.L.U.S.
