Beatrice Trabalza Marinucci

Dr Beatrice Trabalza Marinucci was born in Tuscany on 20/09/1993 and is currently living and training in Rome. Dr Marinucci graduated MD Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy with a master’s degree in Thoracic Surgery at “La Sapienza” University of Rome (Italy) in July 2018 (110/110 with honours). Dr Marinucci got her medical license as a member of the “Albo dell’Ordine Provinciale dei Medici di Roma” (Provincial Register of Physicians in Rome) from March 2019. In November 2019, she started the training in lung, trachea, pleura, and chest wall surgery as a resident in Thoracic Surgery, in Sant’Andrea Hospital, “Sapienza University of Rome”. She was the winner of the Research Grant MED/21 “Pulmonary ischemia-reperfusion injury, how neutrophils can prevent primary graft dysfunction?”, funded by the Department of Medical-surgical Science and Translational Medicine, “Sapienza University of Rome”, 2018. Then, winner of the Research Grant entitled “Phrenic nerve infiltration: a good practice to combine pain control and pulmonary expansion for an early post-surgery recovery” (Dr Marinucci is working as principal investigator in this clinical trial, currently in progress), funded by Sapienza University in 2020. As well, Dr Marinucci resulted winner as Principal investigator of the Research Grant “Avvio alla ricerca” entitled “Gender medicine and thoracic surgery. HPV role in lung cancer and therapeutic prospective” in 2021 (clinical trial in progress).

As a member of the Italian Society of Thoracic Surgery (SICT),she participated as a speaker in the 37th and 38th SICT National Congress SICT (Italian Society of Thoracic Surgery) presenting abstracts about tracheal surgery in October 2021 and October 2023, and was winner for the best presentation in the last one. As a member of the Roman Society of Thoracic Surgery (SRCT), she participated as a speaker in the free session of the Congress, May 2022 (“Tracheal replacement – new frontiers”). Dr Marinucci presented a poster in the 103th and 104th American Association of Thoracic Surgery in May 2023 (“High-flow oxygen therapy (HFOT) prevents early airway complications after subglottic and tracheal surgery”) and April 2024 (“Phrenic nerve infiltration: a good practice to combine pulmonary expansion and pain control in patients with high-risk of prolonged air leak”), and she was a speaker for an abstract presentation in the European Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, in October 2023 (“Endoscopic management of subglottic stenosis with transcordal stent”). From May 2024 she is a trainee member of EACTS. Dr Marinucci participated in the 24th ISMICS Congress as a poster presenter in May 2024 (“Mini-invasive thoracic surgery for early-stage lung cancer: which is the best surgeon’s approach to video-assisted thoracic surgery?”). Dr Marinucci also  participated as a member at the Spring Meeting of the SPIGC (Italian Multi-specialist Society of Young Surgeons), presenting “The role of thoracic surgery in the metastatic female tumors”, in June 2024.

Dr Marinucci has been observing for three months advanced surgeries in the division of thoracic surgery at the Toronto General Hospital (University Health Network) where she improved her medical knowledge, her areas of competence and improved her interpersonal skills (February –May 2023). From January 2024,Dr Marinucci is a member of the regional committee of the SPIGC (Italian Multi-specialist Society of Young Surgeons) for two-years of time, with the aim to improve cultural exchange, scientific relationship among young surgeons of different specialties by seminars and meetings.

Dr Marinucci trained in lung, trachea, pleura, and chest wall surgery as a resident in Thoracic Surgery, in “Sapienza University of Rome”, where I will discuss the final board certification.

Dr Marinucci has worked in several scientific publications, and thinks that scientific research is a fundamental aspect of the training as a surgeon, stimulating the study and the continuous updating for the learning of more and more effective clinical practices that would ameliorate the management of the patients. With her engage in the SPIGC and as a trainee member in the EACTS, she aims to play a social role in improving the homogeneity of training for residents and young surgeons in Italy and Europe. She is working with these Societies to share ideas aimed to improve intercultural exchanges, mobility for research or clinical practice, and multi-institutional trials.

Dr Marinucci is very enthusiastic for scientific research, as well for the organizational management, and teamwork. She is passionate about clinical and surgical practice, thanks to her tutors Prof. E.A. Rendina and Prof M. Ibrahim (Sapienza University of Rome) who principally taught her surgical technique and postoperative management.

Finally, Dr Marinucci is motivated in a continuous cultural growth through interchanges, participating to the most relevant international meetings where ideas and new insights in surgery and clinical management are shared by colleagues all over the world, stimulating a homogeneous scientific progress in the world.
