Dr Bart Loeys is a medical researcher at Antwerp University Hospital in Belgium. In 2005, together with his colleague Dr Hal Dietz, he discovered the gene responsible for a variation of a cardiovascular disease called Marfans Syndrome, which was subsequently named after them as Loeys-Dietz Syndrome.
