Andreas Koster graduated in 1989. After training in Anaesthesia, starting in 1990, he joined the German Heart Center Berlin (DHZB) in 1994. From 2003 to 2009 he was vice chair of the Department of Anaesthesia of the DHZB. In 2010 he changed to the Heart and Diabetic Center NRW in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany. His field of research is patient blood management in cardiac surgery with a special focus on perioperative anticoagulation strategies in patients with heparin-induced thrombocytopenia.
