Alper Toker

Alper Toker received MD degree after completion of Marmara University, School of Medicine, Istanbul Turkiye (1992 ). He completed the residency program at  Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical Faculty, Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (1997). He worked 2 more years in the same department until 1999.  He engaged in organization Department of General Thoracic Surgery at  Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical Faculty, (2001-2019 ). He was the Professor of Thoracic Surgery and Head of the Thoracic Surgery Department  from 2009 to 2019.  At the same time he practised as Director of Thoracic Program at Group Florence Nightingale Hospitals, Istanbul Turkey (2010-2019).   He moved to US to work at  West Virginia University, Heart and Vascular Institute.  He was the Director of Tracheal Reconstructive surgery program ( 2019-) and Chief of Division of Thoracic Surgery (2022-2024). He is currently  a Faculty of West Virginia University, Heart and Vascular Institute and clinically  working Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital, Turkiye.

He was a council member of ESTS from 2009 -2017 and the  president of the ESTS on 2014-2015, the past past president and Director of external relations (2017). He is a member of ISMICS,  AATS, STS.

His academic interests include  lung cancer extended surgery, Tracheal surgery, Extended  mediastinal surgery and robotic mediastinal and lung cancer operations.
