Alberto Forteza graduated in 1996 as a medical doctor at the Salamanca University, Spain. In 2001 he obtained his masters degree in health care and hospital management and was graduated as a cardiac surgeon. After finishing his residency in cardiac surgery, Alberto completed his training focused on aortic valve repair and aortic surgery at the Toronto General Hospital and Hannover Medical School. Currently, he is the Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the Puerta de Hierro and Quiron Madrid University Hospitals and Associate Professor at the Autonoma and Europea Faculties of Medicine. His areas of interest are complex aortic surgery, aortic valve reconstructive surgery, Cardiac transplant ,LVAD, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy surgery.
