Adriano Carotti
Adriano Carotti is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, specialized in Congenital Cardiac Surgery and Cardio-Thoracic Transplant Surgery.
He received his training in Italy from the University of Rome, Tor Vergata and the University of Siena. From 1987 to 1988 he was Clinical Assistant, Senior Registrar degree at the Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street and the Harley Street Clinic in London, UK under Mr Jaroslav Stark. He continued his training with Dr Carlo Marcelletti, at the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital IRCCS in Rome, Italy and spent training periods with Dr. William Norwood at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, U.S.A., Prof. Pascal Vouhè at the Hôpital Laennec of Paris, France and Dr. Frank Hanley at the University of California of San Francisco, U.S.A.
Dr. Carotti was Director of the Cardiac Surgery Unit of the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital IRCCS in Rome, Italy between 2011 and 2019 and is currently Director of the Unit of Complex Cardiac Surgery at this same institution. He is considered an international authority in the surgical treatment of tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia and major aorto-pulmonary collateral arteries. Dr. Carotti received training on aortic valve neocuspidization from Prof. Shigeyuki Ozaki and is among the first pediatric cardiac surgeons in Europe to have extended this technique to pediatric age starting from July 2016.
