Marta Sitges completed her Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the Autonomous University in Barcelona in 1993. She also visited the Cardiovascular Imaging Centre at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA, during a 1 year fellowship and in 2003, she obtained her PhD degree from the Universitat de Barcelona. She is been working as a non invasive cardiologist in Hospital Clinic at the University of Barcelona since 2001 focusing on the field of expertise on echocardiography and valve disease. Her main research interests are in cardiac imaging, resynchronisation therapy, valve heart disease and cardiac remodelling, as well as sports cardiology. She has published more than 150 peer reviewed papers, presented over 150 lectures and provided more than 400 abstracts in national and international meetings. She is also referee for most of the principal cardiovascular journals. Since 2011 she has been an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Barcelona. She has been Chief of the Cardiac Imaging Section and is currently Director of the Cardiovascular Institute at Hospital Clinic, Barcelona.
