The purpose of the committee is to increase medical student and pre-training doctor engagement with cardiothoracic surgery through educational and other relevant activities via EACTS. The committee are very happy to offer the following grants and opportunities to the EACTS Pre-Trainee Members.
Pre-Trainee Travel Electives
We are proud to announce the new Pre-Trainee Travel Electives, a prestigious opportunity offering three medical students financial support to travel to a new cardio-thoracic surgery centre. This travel elective aims to broaden clinical exposure and enhance understanding of this surgical practice. This opportunity offers valuable insights into the fulfilling and dynamic nature of a career in cardio-thoracic surgery.
By providing a financial grant of €1250 per student, EACTS seeks to remove financial barriers that may prevent students from pursuing new experiences and skills development in cardio-thoracic surgery.

Pre-Trainee Annual Meeting Grants
To facilitate student development, we are proud to offer five new educational grants to EACTS Pre-Trainee Members passionate about cardiothoracic surgery. The grants will include registration for the Annual Meeting itself and a €750 stipend to cover travel and accommodation costs.
Applicants are required to submit a 500-word letter explaining why they would like to attend the event, a copy of their CV and a letter of support from a senior colleague. Successful applicants will be asked to write a short reflection describing their experience at the Annual Meeting and what professional value they gained from attending.
