Augusto D’Onofrio
Augusto D’Onofrio was born in Rome in 1976. He received his medical degree from the Catholic University in Rome in 2000 and completed his residency in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Verona in 2005. In 2013, he earned his PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences from the University of Padova. His research during this period provided insights into the clinical outcomes of trans-apical aortic valve implantation. Since 2019 he’s Associate Professor of Cardiac Surgery. Over the years he has developed a keen interest in the complexities of aortic dissection, surgery of aortic arch and the advancements in endovascular aortic arch repair. Other interests are transapical beating-heart mitral neochordae implantation, aortic valve bioprostheses, and surgery of the aortic root. Augusto D’Onofrio has contributed publications to, and serves as a reviewer for, leading journals in cardiac surgery. He has also presented his research at major international cardiac surgery conferences, including EACTS, AATS, STS, HVS and ISMICS. He’s a member of EACTS and SICCH.
