Dr. Pietro Bertoglio is a staff surgeon of the University Hospital of Bologna, Italy. His clinical, surgical and research interest is mainly focused on lung cancer multimodal treatment, minimally invasive techniques (both VATS and RATS) and malignant pleural mesothelioma. Dr. Bertoglio graduated cum laude at the Catholic University of Sacred Heart in Rome (Italy) in 2010 and he attended his residency in General Thoracic Surgery at the University Hospital of Pisa (Italy). He assumed a staff position in 2016 at the Sacro Cuore Don Calabria research Hospital in Negrar di Valpolicella (Verona, Italy) where he worked until May 2020. Since then he has been working at the University Hospital of Bologna, where is also attending a PhD program on Circulating Tumor Cells. In 2014 he was awarded with the EACTS Francis Fontan Prize; in 2015 he attended a clinical fellowship focused on lung transplant and airways surgery at the General Hospital of Vienna, Austria (director prof. Walter Klepetko) and in 2016 he attended a clinical fellowship focused on surgical and multimodal treatment of Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma at the University Hospital of Leicester, United Kingdom (director mr. David A. Waller). He has published numerous original and review articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is an active member of IASLC, ESTS and EACTS.
