Eike Nagel is Professor for Cardiology and one of the founding members and Past President of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR). He is the lead of the Institute for Experimental and Translational Cardiovascular Imaging and the DZHK Centre for Cardiovascular Imaging in Frankfurt as well as the Interdisciplinary Cardiovascular Imaging Service and Consultant Cardiologist in the Departments of Cardiology and Radiology at the University Hospital Frankfurt. Eike Nagel is dedicated to translational clinical research of cardiovascular imaging biomarkers, aiming at generating a better understanding of the underlying pathophysiology of cardiovascular diseases. His research focuses on developing, validating and translating new diagnostic procedures into clinical routine, especially in the field of coronary heart disease, cardiomyopathy and heart failure (HF-REF, H-PEF). He has authored several clinical guidelines, e.g. on standardized image acquisition, reporting and quantification for cardiovascular magnetic resonance and has published over 500 imaging-related publications, most notably a paper concerning the outcomes of cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging in patients recently recovered from COVID-19, which has been published in JAMA-Cardiology in July 2020.
