Dirk Van Raemdonck

Prof dr Dirk Van Raemdonck is a member of staff in the department of thoracic surgery at the University Hospitals Leuven, Belgium. He is the surgical director of the Leuven Lung Transplant Group with an annual volume of about 60-70 lung transplants over the last 5 years and a total of more than 1300 lung transplants since 1991.

He holds the position of Director of the Leuven Transplant Center and chair of the Board of Supervision of Eurotransplant International Foundation.

He is ESTS past-president and current president of the UEMS Section of Thoracic Surgery. He was elected as chair of the Royal Academy for Medicine in Belgium starting 1st January 2023.
