Patrick Wouters

Patrick Wouters MD, PhD is a Cardiac Anaesthesiologist in the Department of Anaesthesia at the Ghent University Hospital. He is full Professor of Clinical Physiology and Chair of the Department of Basic and Applied Medical Sciences at Ghent University in Belgium.

Patrick Wouters is the current President of EACTAIC (the European Association for Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Intensive Care), Secretary-General of the Belgian Society of Anaesthesia and Resuscitation (BeSARPP) and permanent member of the Belgian Royal Academy of Medicine.

His scientific fields of interest and activity include “right ventricular failure and the pulmonary circulation”, “diastolic heart failure in anaesthesia”, ” hemodynamic monitoring & echocardiography” and “organ protection”. He is a regular invited speaker at international meetings and published more than 150 peer reviewed scientific articles.
