Stephan Schubert graduated in 2002 as a medical doctor at the Free University/Charite´ Berlin. Since 2002 he worked in the German Heart Center and Charite´ Berlin and after finishing his residency in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology. In 2012 he became senior stuff member and head of cardiac catheterization during 2012-2020. Besides his clinical work he focused in his research on cardiac interventional therapy and heart transplantation. He finished several research in the field of pediatric heart transplantation with his PhD-like “Habilitation” in 2012 at the Charite´ Berlin.
Since 2020 he is Head of the Department of Pediatric Cardiology at the Heart and Diabetes center NRW – the biggest transplant center in Germany- and is Professor at the Faculty of Ruhr University of Bochum. His areas of interest are cardiac interventions & imaging, heart failure treatment and heart transplantation in congenital heart disease. Since 2020 he is also deputy chairman of the dir. board of the National Registry of Congenital Heart Defects in Germany.
