Mark Slaughter is Professor of Surgery and Chair of the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the University of Louisville and is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Bioengineering. He currently serves as a consultant to the FDA Medical Device Review Panel, National Science Foundation SBIR/STTR grant reviewer and previously served two terms for the Health and Human Services Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee. In addition, he serves on the Ethics Committee and the Education Committee for the American Association of Thoracic Surgery, the Tech-Con Task Force for the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and Councilor-at-Large and Chair of the Finance Committee for the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association. Mark has served as the President of the American Society Artificial Internal Organs and President of the International Society of Rotary Blood Pumps. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the American Society of Artificial Internal Organs Journal and also serves as an Associate Editor for the Annals of Thoracic Surgery.
