Johann Wojta

Johann Wojta is currently Head of Organisational Unit Core Facilities at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. He has worked in Vienna since 1983 as well as undertaking roles in Austria and the US.
His main study interest is in various aspects of the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and the human primary cell types involved in this disease process. Current projects investigate a possible role of the IL33/ST2 system in atherosclerosis, the possible impact of angiogenesis and inflammation in obesity and its association with cardiovascular disease, and the specific role of different monocyte and macrophage subsets in atherosclerosis.
