Giancarlo Forte is currently Group Leader of the Center for Translational Medicine at the International Clinical Research Center of St. Anne’s University Hospital in Brno, Czech Republic. His Masters Degree is in Molecular and Cellular Biology (2000) and his PhD in Experimental Pathophysiology (2005) at the Medical School of the University of Rome. From 2006 to 2009 he was a postdoctoral fellow at Italian Institute for Cardiovascular Research (INRC). In 2008 Dr. Forte was awarded the Young Investigator Award by the INRC for his studies on cell-matrix interaction. His research interests mainly focus on interaction between tissue-specific cells and the extracellular matrix, with special attention on the mechanobiology of stem cells as determinants of cardiac diseases. Dr. Forte has authored 57 publications, 1 international patent, and 6 book chapters and is a reviewer for a number of international peer-reviewed journals.
